As the devastating aftermath of gun violence continues to haunt communities across the United States, its ripple effects extend far beyond the immediate tragedy. We at Virginia Moms for Change are committed to addressing the impact of gun violence. We have witnessed firsthand the profound consequences of two recent incidents in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The upcoming Virginia state legislator race in November 2023 is a crucial opportunity for Virginians to make our voices heard and shape the future of our communities. With all 140 seats up for election, it is a pivotal moment for promoting gun violence prevention (GVP) and advocating for common sense gun safety legislation. Virginia Moms for Change, an organization dedicated to safeguarding our communities and protecting our children, is urging everyone, particularly moms, to support only gun sense candidates who prioritize the safety and well-being of our families.

Virginia Moms for Change (VMFC) started as an Instagram account with its first post on March 31, 2023. Born out of outrage, we knew something had to change. Just one month later, on May 1st, VMFC became a Virginia 501c4. A 501c4 is a not-for-profit social welfare organization operating in the political space. Virginia Moms for Change is committed to ending gun violence in the Commonwealth and in our nation.

We are the founders of Virginia Moms for Change, a nonprofit organization established in April 2023 with the singular goal of ending gun violence in our community. We are moms, who like those around our state and nation, find ourselves crippled by fear and anxiety about the safety of our children. We are also moms who are tired of feeling hopeless but recognize how scary and intimidating it can be to call your legislators, put yourself out there, and fight for change.
