We’re Joining Forces: Virginians for Change teams up with States United to Prevent Gun Violence as a Virginia Affiliate
We’re excited to share that Virginians for Change has officially joined States United to Prevent Gun Violence as a Virginia affiliate.
This partnership connects us with a national network of thirty-one state-based gun violence prevention organizations working to reduce gun violence through advocacy, education, collaboration, and community engagement. As a States United affiliate, we will gain access to additional resources, training, and collaboration opportunities that will strengthen our ability to advocate effectively across the Commonwealth while bringing Virginia’s perspective into a broader national conversation.
“Virginians for Change is proud to be named an affiliate of States United Against Gun Violence,” said Sarah Peyton Kaufman, Virginians for Change Board President. “Especially at this pivotal time for gun violence prevention in Virginia, we are thrilled to connect with fellow advocates across the country to share strategies, build momentum, and expand our mission of safer communities everywhere.”
In just three years since we founded our organization, our community of advocates has grown quickly to over 3,000 members as more Virginians seek meaningful, bipartisan action and practical solutions to address gun violence. We are honored to engage with citizens across the political spectrum, and have many responsible gun owners actively supporting our mission. We are equally grateful for the collaborative spirit of the gun violence prevention movement here in Virginia. Also a Virginia affiliate of States United, the Virginia Center for Public Safety has an almost-20 year legacy as leaders of crucial gun violence prevention advocacy in the commonwealth.
Preventing gun violence requires all of us: advocates, educators, survivors, healthcare professionals, parents, students, responsible gun owners, policymakers - all engaged community members - willing to keep pushing for progress toward a safer America together. Thank you to everyone who has supported Virginians for Change, volunteered your time, contacted legislators, attended events, shared resources, and helped grow this movement. We hope you’ll come alongside us: we’re just getting started.
